Awnings covers changing with the seasons at The Connaught

16 Jul 2018

Bespoke awning solutions are a speciality of Morco. Whether this to design a one off product to a difficult installation, a challenging branding demand or, as in this case, a multiple solution which was demanded by one of our long established clients, The Connaught Hotel in Carlos Place. The brief was for multiple bespoke covers which can be changed to reflect the changing seasons or events. So now the covers can be changed  between the soft blue and peppermint green as seen on these images and  will always look fresh.

The hotel first opened in 1815 as the Prince of Saxe Coburg Hotel,  a  partner to another  hotel opened by Alexander Grillon in Albemarle Street, Mayfair.  The Connaught was originally a pair of Georgian houses in Charles Street, near Grosvenor Square.  In the nineteenth century The Duke of Westminster decided to redevelop the area, and the street name was changed, becoming Carlos Place. In 1892 Scorrier, the owner, put in a planning application to demolish the houses and rebuild the hotel, which took a further two years to complete.
