Bellfort® terrace awning for The Bobbin Gastro Pub in Clapham

The Belfort®  terrace awning is part of our extensive terrace awning range; its modular design and robust structure make it ideal for outdoor cover in inclement weather. This feature made it the perfect choice for The Bobbin Gastro Pub in Clapham when they asked us to provide an awning system which would give cover to drinkers and diners during rainy weather yet still be retractable on fine days. A Particular client stipulation was that the awnings must be linked together so that there was no water ingress where they were joined.

Clearly, no conventional retractable awning would be able to meet these particular criteria and our recommendation of the Belfort® awning system was accepted when we explained in detail how the zipped tension covers would be linked to provide continuous unbroken cover over the wide area of walled terrace.

An additional challenge we were faced with was how we could provide protection from the strong winds that tended to blow through the exposed eves area above a side wall. This was solved by our engineers with the clever adaption of our RIB® aluminium canopy framework. The profile was  formed into a rigid apex section that was subsequently tightly covered with matching awning material to provide an excellent solution and additional comfort for customers.

On pleasant days, when the vagaries of our climate allow, the awnings can be retracted through the simple means of internal sealed motors which are operated by a wireless switching system controlled from within the pub.

This extended area has given the Bobbin increased revenue through the extra outside covers where customers can enjoy modern British, seasonal food with a Mediterranean influence. Classic Sunday roasts, sausages, steak and homemade puddings alongside risotto, pasta's and antipasti. They  also serve Real Ales and have a superb global wine list.
