Morco awnings installed in Copenhagen

Copenhagen is famously the home of the Little Mermaid, or "Den lille Havfrue", statue which celebrates the Danish Children's author Hans Christian Anderson's main character in the story of the same name. However, Copenhagen is also where the fabulous Sanders Hotel can be found on the elegant Tordenskjoldsgade.

Always a striking location but now even more so after the installation of our Morco Victorian awnings. Specified by a London designer these awnings are a major feature on the beautiful facade as can be seen by the photographs. The awnings were manufactured by us in our joinery shop using  harvested hardwood with all paintwork finishes coated in environmentally safe, water based, paints. The  traditional iron work is powder coated to give a robust, long lasting finish in traditional black.

What is particularly unusual was the way we dealt with the client request that the awning covers have a different appearance above and below . This was quite a challenge but one we were eventually able to meet by incorporating the unparalleled strength and versatility of our unique RIB system into the fabrication of the covers. In order that we were sure these very special awning were installed correctly we elected to send our own specialist crew over from London to carry out the installation.

The Sanders luxury boutique Hotel founded by acclaimed former royal ballet dancer Alexander Kølpin and unsurprisingly, it is poised, graceful and supremely elegant.  complimenting the exterior inside, designers Pernille Lind and Richy Almond, have created a venue which is a masterpiece of intimacy: each turn of the corner reveals a scene cleverly created just for that space and that moment, making for an altogether inquisitive passage through the hotel’s quiet splendour.
