Victorian awnings for City Walk Dubai

In 2016 we received an enquiry from a leading Dubai blind maker about a project sponsored by the king  for a project in support of the famed City Walks Development in Dubai. This project for a major the Dubai based Group, renowned for their spectacular City Developments and stadia, was  to feature an area replicating a typical London High Street. The designers had incorporated in this concept a feature which would really make the scene authentic and specified the use of Traditional Victorian awnings and Shop Blinds on a number of retail out lets and restaurants.

Despite having been established as a leading blinds supplier in Dubai since 1989 it was not surprising that their experience of typical British style shop blinds was limited and a quick trawl by them through the web quickly established that Morco Blinds and their subsidiary, The Victorian Blinds Company, would be the perfect partners to engage for the supply of this speciality product.

This first contact quickly became a succession of email submissions back and forth with design ideas being exchanged and drawings submitted, revised and re-submitted until a basic style was agreed and a meeting was swiftly arranged in Dubai to confirm final product specifications and dimensions.

Our senior Technical Consultant attended site and met, not only a representative of the local blinds company, but also the Designers and the main contractors. Our advisors's calm and knowledgeable approach to the task quickly allayed any fears of the Dubai partners and it was not long before styles and colours were being discussed and  agreed for the various outlets and Morco's formal quotation was promptly rewarded with an order to supply all the awnings for the project.

Rather than attempt installation from London it was decided that, with suitable training, it would be possible for the awnings to be installed by the local contractor and appropriate detailed instructions were provided by us.

During the installation process close contact was maintained and all questions answered promptly with the ultimate conclusion that this amazing project now incorporates a little bit of 19th Century London to contrast with the stunning architecture which is City Walks.
